An icon of contemporaneity and one of the most effective expressions of Italian design combining research and creative flair, the Bambola armchair forms part of the Le Bambole ‘07 series, originating in the 1970s and awarded a Compasso d’Oro in 1979. The project provides a very personal answer to the theme of seats, which seem to issue from a single block containing the backrest, seat and armrest, as if ‘sculpted’ from a single material. Comfortable shapes without stiff supports merge with traditional elements as established by the designer, who wanted to reproduce “a living body that is soft and safe, pleasant to touch and embrace”.
