Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio was born in Meda (Milano) in 1950. Following his graduation from the Politecnico di Milano with a degree in architecture in 1975, he launched his design firm in 1972. During the years spanning from 1987 to 1996, he collaborated with Terry Dwan, creating architectural marvels in various locations throughout Europe and Japan.
Antonio Citterio, a renowned architect, and designer, established an architecture and interior design firm with Patricia Viel in 2000. The practice has since been engaged in large-scale and multi-faceted projects on a global scale, working in collaboration with a team of proficient consultants. The firm currently operates under "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel". The Antonio Citterio architect is presently engaged in the realm of industrial design and has partnered with various Italian and international firms, one of the remarkable collaborations is with B&B Italia for which he designed outstanding furniture pieces such as the Charles sofa, which boasts light, minimalist shape that embodies his essential design philosophy. The sofa is available on the B&B Italia eshop both as a sectional and in a linear configuration in esopo fabric. The Compasso d'Oro-ADI was bestowed upon him twice, in 1987 and 1994. Serving as a professor of Architectural Design at the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture (Switzerland) spanned years from 2006 to 2016. He received the distinguished title of "Royal Designer for Industry" from the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce of London in 2008.
