Paolo Piva

Paolo Piva, an iconic Italian architect and designer renowned for his innovative furniture designs, was born in Adria in 1950. In 1968 he started his studies and graduated in architecture from the University Institute of Architecture in Venice, gaining recognition for his work in both architecture and industrial design during his post-graduate studies at the "Superior Restoration Course" in Rome.

Paolo Piva had a prolific career: he showcased his work in both solo and group exhibitions, collaborating with prestigious institutions such as the Institute of History and Architecture in Venice and the Akademie für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna. In the 1980s, Piva designed the Kuwait embassy in Qatar and took on various architectural projects, what’s more he also established himself in the design industry, working with renowned company such as B&B Italia. Piva's notable works include the restructuring of the C.Jourdan headquarters in Paris and his involvement in the renovation of Lingotto Fiat in Turin.

In 1986 he designed the renovation of Palazzo Remer in Venice, and the following year he was nominated for the XIII Compasso d'Oro Award. He became an associate professor at the Akademie für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna in 1988 and was later promoted to full professor in 1991. Piva worked with several esteemed European and American companies in the field of industrial design. He passed away in July 2017.
